At Vancell we deal with thousands of phones per month, it is safe say mobile phones are our speciality. We have a specific knowledge and expertise in the phone repair field, a skillset which expands into the always evolving App World. We saw it fit to start sharing our knowledge on the various Apps of 2012 as opposed to writing weekly posts on how to fix a phone. One of our goals is to inform you about Apps that making every day living much easier. The following is the VanCell Top 10 Iphone Apps of 2012:
- Google Maps -When Apple deprived customers of the popular Youtube and Google Map mobile apps, an outburst of enraged customers emerged, many of which threatening to switch to arch rival Samsung. After a short-lived down time, Google came out with a fresh new Maps App which was second to none in the industry. Google’s new map featured an upgraded easy to use local search engine to go along with “Google Places”, which combines accurate street views. Google Maps is the number 1 ranked App of 2012, a must download!
- Twitter -Twitter has become the number 1 information source in the world. There are many opposed to Twitter but not to those who value up to the second information 24 hours a day. Twitter began as a slow “clunky” app but has since turned around in speed and now allowing users to handle more than one account simultaneously. We ask that you trust our judgement when we say Twitter has evolved. It is all the information you desire, designed into one mobile app.
- Gmail -This app applies to all existing Gmail users, and a message to non-Gmail users, it’s time to switch! For years the pre-downloaded iPhone App had a common complaint: its inability to run more than one account. The problem applied especially to business owners who have work, personal and family email accounts; consequently, the email App could not be used properly. The Gmail app is now wonderfully redesigned and fully functional with multiple accounts. Business owners can host multiple accounts on one device, have real-time notifications, and a useful new search tool for the inbox. Time for the switch!
- PS Express -These days 99% of photos are taken with a Mobile phone, which leads to the introduction of your ideal app. Adobe Photoshop Express is arguably supreme tool for fixing and editing photos on your mobile phone. Although not the same as the computer software you are accustomed to, the App does offer an autocorrect function with a single tap. PS Exchange has amazing performance enhancements, workflow improvements, and big fixtures. Save yourself the “instapost” and download PS Exchange!
- Pulse -The App that keeps you connected with the surrounding world. Pulse is a news, blog, magazine, and social reader all in one, allowing you to combine favorite websites, or blogs all under one roof. With the addition of a Pulse account, there will be decreased email clutter and irrelevant updates but a gain in easy share social buttons.

Long story short, Dropbox allows you to share your documents with others. No matter your geographical location, you are able to access any file within your Dropbox account at any time. Dropbox is a great tool for those forgetting a document on a home PC with the easy, on the fly access to your account.
- Mint -During tough economic times, one can value the ability to know where money is being spent or by creating a budget. Mint.com has seen over 10 million users, not by fluke, and viewed as one of the top finance tracking tools available. The iPad version of this App has been one of the most popular amongst users, allowing one to sync bank accounts, import information, and offers a useful budget setting function. Personal finance made easy!
- Epicurious -For all the foodies, Epicurious has been downloaded 5 million times. Epicurious features a database of recipes with a message board to discuss the contents of the recipe. The app allows users to read and rate other user’s recipes, and under many circumstances, offer improvements to aid a fellow foodie. With articles and interviews from renowned chefs, Epicurious is a foodie’s dream!
- Air Video Free -Air Video Free allows you to access an entire library through an iPhone or iPad, for the TV/Movie computer watching lover. This all is compatible with AVI, DivX, and MKV as well as the ability to convert a video to MP4. An owner of Apple TV has the ability to stream a video or movie live on the TV as well as add to an iTunes account.
- Photosynth -The final app of the VanCell top 10 is another picture loving service, Photosynth by Microsoft. Photosynth is amazing for captioning 3D panoramic shots, uploading, sharing and general viewing, and the perfect app to “capture the moment”.
